It all comes down to this. The final session of the Lich Master campaign kicks off with the group in the thick of it — a full-scale undead assault on the monastery, skeletons at the gates, defenders on the walls, and our lot standing between civilisation and something very, very old and very, very angry.

And if that wasn't enough, the Skaven want a word.

With unlikely allies at their side and the mysterious box finally in play, the Blokes have to hold their nerve, hold the line, and somehow pull off a plan that really shouldn't work. There's heroism at the breach, chaos in the valley, and a confrontation with the campaign's ultimate villain that does not disappoint.

This is WFRP at its finest — grim, perilous, and deeply satisfying. Hard-won victories, genuine tension, and the kind of ending that makes you want to immediately roll up a new character and do it all again.

The Lich Master is done. Long live the Blokes.

Mark:

Welcome to the Lich Master, final session of our live play. We left our heroes. Can we call you heroes yet?

Stephen:

No, we're destructors with Skaden, so no.

Mark:

No. So we left our questionable characters dragging the box out, helping some ratmen and their leader, Greyseer, out with this box, having told them that if the Skaven were to use the box in order to destroy their threat of the Lishmaster of the Undead Army, then they will allow the Skaven to leave with the box. Seemed like a fair deal at the time.

Jon:

I didn't agree. I didn't protest either because the other two are bigger than me.

Mark:

So, well, I'm hoping you stick to the deal. I mean, it wouldn't be very nice, would it?

Jon:

Yeah, until everyone else sees who comes to claim the box. They didn't agree.

Mark:

As you emerge from the sewer, so the sewer pipe leads out into the mountains, not too far from the Maison Tau. So you're still within the valley, but you're definitely away from the battle. And as I described previously, the scene is completely different now. The Pau Mountain Sun you left behind is gone, and this overcast, bruised sky and the chilling wind as well is sweeping around the basin. But the main thing that you see is that there is this army that they're attacking, the walls of the monastery from all angles.

Stephen:

Skeletal army.

Mark:

Skeletal army, yeah. And you're on the outside looking in, so you're safe here at this point in time.

Jon:

You're far enough away.

Mark:

For.

Jon:

Tool on the way because.

Mark:

There hasn't been anything to do that with so now you stink to high heaven but the stench of this undead army probably trumps your own smell you don't have to force who's self-conscious about it at the moment doing it, yeah uh but you do see that the main gates and you can you're looking over toward those at a distance beginning to groan under the tide of bone and rusted steel and, that's where the focus of the army is that seems that the defense seems to be fairly efficient in keeping the army from breaching the walls itself so there are people standing around on top of the the walls knocking skeletons back the ones that managed to climb high enough, that much is being done particularly well but the less stronger people monks and people from the frugal home valley from frugalhofen but the the main gates are groaning under this tide of bone and rusted steel, So this session will begin with Gelato on the other side of the gate, ready for that gate to go down and to have his heroic death.

Guest:

Yep.

Mark:

Perhaps. And the rest of you on the outside with your rat friends, which there are six of them because you killed one of them, and a couple of them are injured and not looking too happy.

Jon:

Hang on, there's only five initially.

Mark:

Five plus the seer.

Jon:

Oh, jeez. They're multiplying like rats.

Mark:

Don't tempt me. You also see from your vantage point of outside of the monastery, there are key people involved in this battle. None of them yet appear to be the wizard that you saw, the necromancer. But there are definitely what you can see now on the fringes of the battle. more prominent skeletal heroes and one of them in particular is is a hulking armored form he's mine he's he's he's ready to attack the gate once it falls in, and although you don't you don't know this this guy you think he's definitely one of the more prominent if not the blue-blooded bandit leader and if it was that would be a dolphin swimmer, and he would be probably the biggest threat other than the lich master itself amongst this army, and he's out there and you can see him from a distance so i'll come to you guys outside first of all and to this to the skaven and and ask, how how you want to approach this the skaven seer speaks very rudimentary common tongue but it's enough for you to communicate with.

Jon:

Not listening to that chaos i guess can i remember whatever notes i was looking for looking through in the library on how this box was activated how it was.

Mark:

Uh well in the library how uh.

Jon:

Muscaday actually used it.

Mark:

Yeah well he was able to use it you're pretty clear about that whatever, magical powers he had you're beginning to think that some of them might have been a little bit more questionable than they should have been he was he was able to use it but remember this was a first edition warhammer adventure so things were a little bit simpler back then. He was a wizard of high power. Oh, wait, shouldn't it? And once opened, it does release a huge amount of energy and it does destroy.

Jon:

Well, that's what I'm after, dude.

Mark:

Yeah.

Jon:

So...

Stephen:

Where do you want it, boss? Where are we dragging this? To me?

Jon:

To you? Yes, I'm going to need to have eyes.

Stephen:

We're moving the sofa.

Jon:

I've got to be able to see the target, I would guess. He says, try and sound authoritative. Yes, yes, somewhere I can see the enemy.

Mark:

Well, Rassabak, who we've now gained the name of, is the head of the Skaven. He says, you know, use manling. Too strong, power too much.

Jon:

Policemen don't have names.

Mark:

We need get close.

Stephen:

Oh come on then get moving.

Mark:

He points to a place within the valley there are skeletons all around but the main force of skeletons trying to break through the main gates he thinks to unleash the power of this box on them um, he he shows you a vantage point just over to the left so if you're moving toward, not not directly toward the monastery but over to the side he points on a little um promontory on the side of the cliffs there because this is quite a steep basin that you're in.

Jon:

Wouldn't that waste the energy? If we take out the person bringing them up doesn't everything just go?

Mark:

There, he points toward a swimmer, the head skeleton there that looks.

Jon:

The guy that raised him.

Stephen:

I'm Rick.

Mark:

Is this right?

Jon:

I'm Rick Kimler. Yeah.

Mark:

They were looking around.

Stephen:

Kimler.

Mark:

No, see. No one.

Jon:

For the sake of, you've seen the name. Oh, Avis. Sorry, just saying you're together. Yeah, I should have got that way earlier. I'm crying out.

Mark:

What okay uh yeah so.

Jon:

There is a tradition for those that are listening of hiding names of certain prominent nazi bastards or not hiding.

Stephen:

Them as a case.

Mark:

Of first edition classic isn't it yeah he is the old nazi as well so this scobin rattleback he's pointing over toward the the skeletal hero that's over there he's protecting.

Stephen:

Him maybe yeah.

Mark:

We kill hit we kill then we go No.

Stephen:

You're just trying to get off early. No, no, no, no, no. You're in for the long haul. We need Himmler.

Mark:

No, I understand, man.

Jon:

I can't believe I'm talking to a chaos thing.

Stephen:

So you're trying to skive.

Jon:

We kill that, and the box will still work, yeah?

Mark:

The box will work, but be gone. Be gone with us.

Jon:

No. Right, so we're taking out the boss then, not skeletons.

Mark:

Boss, he points to the skeleton. big boss see.

Jon:

Idiot human the the guy that raised the piece i'm not haggling looking around for the caster.

Mark:

He speaks to all of his other skaven and they all sort of looking around and they're saying he's trying to get them to keep an eye out we look we see if no if no boss we killed that then we go.

Jon:

Not the deal.

Barry:

No not the deal the deal was the boss, Killing that guy doesn't help us.

Mark:

Okay.

Jon:

I mean, kill that guy as well. That will make it easier to kill the boss, but that's what we did.

Mark:

So at this point, then the gates will give.

Jon:

Damn it. Okay, now we kill the food.

Mark:

The gates groan under a tide of bone and rusted steel, and they've given away with a sickening crash. And through this breach, Gelato and the other dwarves stand alongside you.

Guest:

Can I have a couple of goes of trying to psych myself up?

Mark:

You don't need to roll. You've had plenty of time to do that, so I'm happy to say that you succeeded.

Guest:

I'll be shaking.

Mark:

Okay. And through this breach...

Guest:

E-Roy Jenkins!

Jon:

Handle the little bloke syndrome.

Mark:

Kemmler's elite storming party, the Hulk-armoured form of Adolphus Swemmer at the background, is coming through with this charge, flanked by what looks like counter-skeletons. You can't count them all through the gap in the gaseous.

Barry:

I don't think this is going to come as a surprise, but I have taken my healing graft.

Mark:

Okay, that's true. Yes, that's Andy. So you're looking a little bit bad. So the courtyard soon becomes a chaotic mess of battle. And you see knots of monks in their simple robes swinging quarterstaffs there. Everybody, the surviving villagers from Frugaloft and are also fighting in desperation as these skeletons stream through. There is nowhere left to run at this point. The firebrush that you could light, it's not having too much effect on the undead. You may have guessed that already. It's not something that's going to cause them too much trouble.

Jon:

Well, I wouldn't give for old Ripper to be with us.

Guest:

You don't need Ripper, you've got me.

Stephen:

You got stolen.

Mark:

You can fight your way through skeletons i don't want to make too many roles like in the spirit of leash master a lot of this is determined by by weight of numbers either side um so i, i think we're through the fog of war we'll focus on gelato and what you're trying to achieve and we try and see whether that that can be on your terms or something stops you doing so what is gelato doing at this stage.

Guest:

I'm pointing at the the main guy and screaming in front of him to come to me and if he doesn't come to me i'm going to charge him.

Mark:

Yes you're talking about um swimmer the skeletal hero this one stands out not like the other ones i said try to be nondescript this this guy is um he's bigger than the others he seems more powerful in his construction and he's carrying, he's dressed in this this fine armor and he's got like an ornate sword, this could be your battle, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't see you as the hero that he potentially would want to face up to. He's ignoring you. So if you want to get his attention and match off with him on the battlefield like that, you're going to have to try a bit better. Either go and get him, basically, and fight your way to him, or call him out in a way that engages him. I don't know. What do you think?

Guest:

He'd be screaming in obscenities, you know. He'd be like, I'm going to have you. You come here, you'll die. this line no further.

Mark:

You would be one of the better fighters in amongst them now you've got your slayer skills wouldn't you as well and you're not showing any fear but you're vulnerable without the armor, yeah in gimbrin's gimbrin's a great fighter too so either you or gimbrin are going to reach him first yeah me i don't want to make too many roles in order to achieve that i think you can make an opposed weapon skill test against gimbrin and if he if gimbrin, he's the one that gets the attention of swimmer brings him and fights him in the battlefield you won't be alongside each other you're quite you know there's no way of fighting together there'll be too many, skeletons in between you and and and swimmer and gimbran if you fail this if you fail this supposed role so you'll be fighting standard skeletons under those circumstances at least for the time being so let's make the opposed weapon skill role, and let's see two oh, Yes.

Guest:

He's lone!

Mark:

Okay, Gimbrin, the tide of the battle sweeps Gimbrin off to one side. I mean, we don't know. I mean, Gimbrin's tough, so he might have been a better bet against Swimmer, but you're the one that ends up facing up against him.

Guest:

Yep.

Mark:

And it's now a direct fight between you and Swimmer. There won't be anything else there. The rest of the skeletons think that Swimmer's going to take you on and beat you without any trouble. Okay. It's got higher. I've almost certainly got a higher initiative than you.

Guest:

Oh, yeah, my initiative is 18.

Mark:

Okay. So, yeah, it attacks you.

Guest:

Go on, then.

Mark:

That is a zero-degree success.

Guest:

Okay, cool. So, I have one roll in defense for me, then. No, he hits me. I fell out by nine.

Mark:

By nine points. Okay. So, you take 12 damage.

Guest:

Okay. Yep. Can't take many of them.

Mark:

Your attack.

Guest:

Right. So, I've read up on this. So, I'm frenzied, and I've got dual wielder. So reading Frenzy, you get an extra attack. So I get two attacks on my normal weapon skill, and then I get my Dual Wielder attack. Yeah? And because I've got Slayer, his toughness is now my strength. And just to make your life even more harsh, I get an extra point of damage as well.

Mark:

So the extra attacks, well, one of them's from Dual Wielder, which you've got, is it? Yeah. Yeah. So it's giving you one extra attack, the Frenzy talent, basically. Correct, yeah.

Guest:

So the Frenzy talent gives you effectively two attacks.

Mark:

Yeah.

Guest:

And Dual Wielder gives me another one. but the dual wield is with minus, obviously, the usual minuses to defend.

Mark:

Not as effective, but the extra attack from the Frenzy talent is just as effective as the burst.

Guest:

Correct.

Mark:

So what's the disadvantages of Frenzy?

Guest:

So I can't stop fighting.

Mark:

Well, that's not under the circumstances of disadvantage, is it?

Guest:

No. Well then. And at the end of the fight, I get a fatigue condition, but I'm going to die here because you remain friends until all enemies in your line of sight are pacified.

Mark:

Okay.

Guest:

So. It's a long day.

Barry:

How many skeletons did you say was in this army, Mark?

Mark:

At least 200 maybe i'm gonna be a while then well.

Guest:

Maybe not i could i could die next round to be honest with you all right you ready.

Mark:

Yeah go on let's have you around first.

Guest:

One i hit right and i'm going to turn that straight away into a critical success.

Mark:

Right using your signature skill which is turn a successful role while using that skill into a critical role so that gives you uh as we always say, narrative advantage or full damage, which one would you like? Full damage. Right, okay.

Jon:

Or knock your sword out of the ring.

Mark:

You've now got six strength, because it's got six toughness. Yep.

Guest:

So I'll roll to it again, see if I can pull it off.

Stephen:

That would be your weapon damage.

Guest:

No, unfortunately not. So I do six, because of his strength, then my weapon is, what is the weapon? Is it four?

Stephen:

Yeah.

Mark:

Yes, if it's a hand weapon, yeah. Most of it.

Guest:

So, and then I've got three there, and I get an extra plus one, so ten, fourteen damage. With the first one.

Mark:

Yeah, it's got armor as well.

Guest:

Yeah.

Mark:

But it does take damage from that.

Guest:

Good.

Mark:

Good hefty blow. Yeah.

Guest:

I missed the first roll. Hit with the second roll with four degrees of success.

Mark:

Okay.

Guest:

Oh.

Mark:

So it hits, it does that with five degrees. No, no, hold on. Yeah, five degrees of success.

Guest:

So he beats me on that one.

Mark:

Yep.

Guest:

And then my last attack is the drill wielder, which i hit with three degrees success.

Mark:

Okay with the first attempt yeah so you hit with that.

Guest:

Oh, shit! Oh. So another 14 damage.

Mark:

Okay, same again.

Guest:

Yep.

Mark:

You've done pretty well. I think you've done better against it than you've done against you.

Guest:

Yeah, but if he does another nine wounds against me, I die.

Mark:

Yeah, okay. Well, it could happen. So although this round is only 10 seconds in this game, I want that to be a little bit longer, really, so we'll play a bit more with the narrative here. so that's happening over the period of about a minute or so so meanwhile the other three of you are trying to negotiate with the Skaven what with the Ratmen sorry I'm trying to find.

Jon:

Somewhere a little bit higher to get a look around because.

Mark:

Yeah there are places you can go to the side of the valley and just up the side of the I.

Jon:

Think you need to be able to see whatever you're casting and stuff I could be wrong so that's what I'm hoping for and try to spot kimler.

Mark:

Yeah so it is it is more difficult to see any distance because of this fog that's, this here that's quite thick but you can you can gain a better varnish point for certain by just climbing up the side of the valley a little over to the side so you're making your way across to there, rassabak is is still negotiating so what what want manning what want, Kill bones, get boxed, go home. We go.

Stephen:

Kill all the bones. At once. Himmler. Necromancer.

Mark:

No. Not here. Not here.

Stephen:

Well, you will be. Patience.

Mark:

No. We kill. We kill what we see.

Barry:

While he's talking, I'm just going to be slipping my knuckle duster on really fucking obviously.

Mark:

Okay.

Barry:

And just muttering to myself, I mean, it's just not what we agreed. It's not what we agreed because I closed my fist up with my knuckle duster and then I'm going to make contact and just let that hang.

Mark:

A couple of the other scabern there reluctantly step in between you and the greysir and they raise their swords.

Stephen:

You're not going to get the box very far anyway. You're going to be stopped by the bones. Maybe even the Necromancer might fancy it. Best of killing him, as he'd be after you.

Mark:

Where? Where? Where he?

Stephen:

Exactly. We're looking for him. Why don't you look for him?

Mark:

So I need an encounter roll from the two of you. That's Dorian and Silas. A roll of D6 and a roll of a one. Skeletons within this battle do eventually sort of sense that you're there. This roll will be reoccurring. Right.

Stephen:

Yes.

Mark:

So Silas um some of the skeletons that are over one of the parts of the wall in which they're not having a great deal of luck preaching but still attempting to do so as part of the battle tactics of this army to keep people occupied in all all parts of the wall, uh they're they're aware that you're there and they start they turn around they start to make their way across the fields these this this basin this area here is, is all it's all it's all agricultural for the, for the monastery so they're walking across this crop and these fields over towards you and they're not they're going to be with you um straight away so you've got a got an action or two before they reach you but there's this group of three skeletons coming your way.

Stephen:

Yes we'll have to beat them up aren't.

Barry:

We axe in hand.

Mark:

Yeah step forward uh who's who's joining you is it dorian as well.

Stephen:

Nobody else there is it.

Mark:

Well the skaven.

Stephen:

Yeah they'll be joining us too though yeah they seem completely reliable. We can always step back and let them get into the tank. Are they going after the casket?

Mark:

Well, they're going after you and the casket doesn't really move very fast. So it's either... The Grey Seer is directing them within their own tongue, and it does appear that the Grey Seer is telling them to back you up.

Barry:

Okay.

Stephen:

Yeah.

Mark:

Okay.

Barry:

Okay, I'm ready to go.

Mark:

Okay, so it's initiative. It'll be Dorian first.

Stephen:

I'll attack someone else's attack to get some bonuses. I'll be two against one-on-one.

Mark:

You can be. There's enough Skaven here to occupy the others and outmatch them, so if you two want to stay together, you can fight the Skeleton between you.

Stephen:

Defeat the prospect.

Mark:

He fought a lot of skeletons in the last couple of days. So it's not 22.

Stephen:

Wow. I didn't know it's plus two, but that's a crit.

Mark:

Yeah. Okay. So I do get a chance to resist it. So I might get a, well, 99.

Stephen:

Do I actually kill him on that?

Mark:

You've created and it's critically failed on its defense.

Jon:

Oh baby.

Mark:

Yeah. Why not?

Stephen:

I mean, and then the shards of this one go flying into the others, destroying them.

Mark:

No, but yeah, I mean, I don't know how Silas might react to that. He's coming in.

Barry:

He's fucking barred better than me.

Stephen:

I have dice whispered.

Mark:

Yes good to know your dice barry it all helps it's like being.

Barry:

Outboxed by celine dion.

Stephen:

He's not he's not a bard yet he's just a thief it's fine that's true sorry sorry but actually.

Barry:

I think that might make it.

Stephen:

Worse i think we've got a.

Jon:

Line to tag the episode if that was it, Yeah.

Mark:

He's just, you're left there standing, but you can go and help a Skaven.

Stephen:

It's this hammer. It's like the hammer of Sigmar. Maybe I'll pick up the hammer of Sigmar. I'll have a check in, it. It's just sitting in the drawer with mine. God, that's very weird.

Mark:

Yeah. Silas, you can attack one of the other skeletons, the Skaven are.

Barry:

I would enjoy that.

Mark:

Yeah, go on then.

Barry:

Four degrees of success.

Mark:

It goes up to six because you're outmatched because you're helping Skaven. So, yeah, you've hit.

Barry:

Eight points of damage.

Mark:

But this fight's only going to go one way. Now the scaven are involved, these two remaining skeletons aren't going to cause you too much trouble. What is going to cause trouble is the skeletal champion up against Gelato.

Guest:

No chance.

Mark:

So it's my attack on you.

Guest:

It is.

Mark:

Second attempt. Does hit you with three degrees of success.

Guest:

I've got two goes trying to pass it then.

Mark:

Yeah. That's four degrees. Zero nine, four degrees. okay there's your opportunity again.

Guest:

I'm gonna kill him ready.

Mark:

Won't be that easy first one easy fucking hell okay if he froze no he froze.

Guest:

I'm just living in the moment.

Mark:

Okay yeah I'll take maximum damage alright, ready yeah go.

Stephen:

Well he's still you might as well make him oh no.

Mark:

Defend him He might crit.

Stephen:

Foul the defence.

Guest:

Thank you, Stephen. Thank you for your help.

Mark:

Well, this one...

Stephen:

If he crit, fouls his defence.

Mark:

Well, he does need to roll his defence, doesn't he? That's true.

Guest:

Yeah, but you need to crit it to pass it. Go on.

Mark:

He does, yeah. He doesn't.

Stephen:

So if he crit, fouled it.

Guest:

So now I re-roll to hit.

Mark:

Yes.

Guest:

Oh, fouled it. So 14 damage.

Mark:

Okay.

Stephen:

You're halfway there.

Guest:

First one. Second attack. Hit on the 50. So zero degrees of success.

Mark:

On the second attempt.

Guest:

No, first roll.

Mark:

First. Okay, you've hit again. going.

Guest:

See you're not so clever now are you.

Mark:

All right okay.

Jon:

Call it a.

Mark:

Draw one more attack then.

Guest:

My offhand weapon ready my jaw.

Mark:

Will it it it could this could kill it.

Stephen:

Oh missed you got.

Mark:

Three tries well you do get three can we donate.

Guest:

Fortune points oh he hits he hits.

Mark:

That thing you need to.

Guest:

Five degrees of stress.

Mark:

Okay.

Jon:

Oh, shit.

Mark:

Well, he gets two attempts. Are you a bit of a game?

Guest:

Ah. Next turn. 12.

Mark:

12, even with a one?

Guest:

I think so.

Stephen:

11. You're plus 10.

Guest:

No, because I get plus one because of the frenzy.

Mark:

Yeah.

Stephen:

12.

Guest:

It's an extra one.

Stephen:

Then you might have done more of those.

Guest:

No, wait a minute. I've got the same...

Stephen:

Then you'd have been doing 17s on the 6.

Guest:

Same thing with him, which is 6.

Mark:

Is this the same character you were playing last session?

Guest:

Yeah, because I've got all my Slayer talents. They're really good. You've got to get to this.

Mark:

It's the same Twelfth that died in the water.

Guest:

Yeah, but he had no talents then, didn't he?

Stephen:

He couldn't Slay that, could he?

Guest:

None at all. He's got Slayer, Jill Wilder, and Frenzy. They're good at this point.

Stephen:

Then you're doing plus 11 damage, plus 6, 6, yeah?

Guest:

Oh, yeah. So you've done 12.

Mark:

Right, for plus 2 critical.

Stephen:

You'd have had plus one extra damage to all those then.

Mark:

So it's a plus two critical so what.

Jon:

Do I need.

Mark:

So you need 41 or more.

Guest:

11.

Mark:

No.

Guest:

Can you not quit criticals?

Mark:

No. Well, you failed it. That would be a critical miss. So you don't have any fortune. You can re-roll a critical, but you don't have any fortune left, I assume.

Guest:

No, no, no. Zero.

Mark:

Okay. Same question.

Jon:

Can we donate 14 points?

Mark:

No. No, no, you can't.

Stephen:

No.

Jon:

That's the most use I can make.

Mark:

Well, not necessarily, because you see the arrival of the Lishmaster from your varnish points. You see over the back end of the valley.

Jon:

Right. Immediately crouch, low, turns to the others. He's here. He's here.

Mark:

And a purple-gray fog seems to arrive and this chariot thunders out a bit. It's a horrific construction of fused and twisted bone pulled by two skeletal horses. and at its centre stands a wizened, decaying well it looks like a corpse but you pretty, much think this person is alive clad in tattered filthy robes undoubtedly this is Heinrich Kemmler and he raises, a carved staff high and his face a mask of ancient malice and he arrives on the scene, facing the gates so its intention is to go through the gates as well and reinforce that of his of his of his army, because his champion looks like he's going to fall to to the troll slayer but the skeletons are having having a greater effect so he's there now to bolster the forces and see this battle through.

Jon:

Right are they actually fighting.

Mark:

They are fighting skeletons but we won't we won't complete that one round is enough really i don't want to spend too long um tying you down to small fights like that so uh the those three those three skeletons are quite quickly dispatched by the skaven and and those.

Jon:

Scamperbacks say the bastards come trying to come through the gate.

Stephen:

Get the box down.

Mark:

It there you sure yep the skaven doesn't seem too happy because he needs to move it to get an angle around around the side of the monastery.

Barry:

Get moving i'm gonna offer to help.

Mark:

Yeah.

Stephen:

Yeah, we could have one.

Mark:

It's what Hero's all about, dragging boxes.

Stephen:

Pivot.

Jon:

The first person that used it was one wizard. So unless he used magic to shift it, he had people helping him. Yeah, of course, they don't make the pages of history, do they? Box movers. For sweaty bastards.

Mark:

There should be a career for it in Warhammer. There is.

Jon:

There probably is. Labour.

Guest:

No, it's stewardess. They're the people that carry boxes.

Jon:

They've got a union. Labour has done.

Mark:

They're never in the bookendose of history.

Stephen:

They just need the poles that go through it, slide through it. That's what they might have had, the full gear.

Jon:

Maybe that's what the staff is really for.

Stephen:

Yeah.

Mark:

Okay so you're dragging this box across and we'll finish off the fight with the skeletal champion because this is happening over the over the course of the next couple of minutes one hit.

Guest:

Away from you killing me mark I've.

Mark:

Got six wounds left yeah but that's the.

Jon:

Same for both of you and you get more hits than he does no.

Guest:

If he kills me first I don't get it in.

Jon:

Oh

Mark:

That is a shame.

Jon:

That's fair loser talk.

Mark:

Oh hold on it hits with two degrees on second attempt so I got two attempts.

Guest:

To sort it out yeah I passed that with three degrees.

Jon:

Okay.

Guest:

Ready to die?

Mark:

Right, you better kill it this time, because if not, there's going to be... Skeletons are going to be coming in. Yeah, you're going to be overwhelmed with skeletons.

Guest:

This is it.

Mark:

This is your last chance.

Guest:

Missed with the first one. Missed with the second one.

Stephen:

He put pressure on.

Guest:

Hit with the third one, so you got zero degrees, so all you need to do is pass it.

Mark:

Misses.

Stephen:

Oh, he's not, though.

Mark:

That was twice last time. Come on. That's rubbish.

Guest:

Second attack.

Mark:

Okay.

Guest:

Miss. Miss. Hit with two degrees.

Mark:

Okay. Third, three attempts. No, three degrees. Does.

Guest:

Okay, offhand weapon.

Stephen:

Three degrees is a tie, is it not?

Mark:

Oh, you said two.

Stephen:

Oh, did I? Sorry.

Guest:

Okay, so hit with one degree success on the second roll. Oh, there we go!

Mark:

First one. Fouls with a second. Okay, the final chance to kill it before you're overwhelmed with skeletons.

Guest:

Okay, here we go. Damage. I clicked the button, Mark. Has nothing come up?

Mark:

Nothing came up.

Jon:

Can take him.

Guest:

Oh, that's standing.

Mark:

Five, okay.

Guest:

16 damage.

Mark:

16 minus is eight. So that is plus eight critical. I think there's a chance of fouling that. So I think you do need to roll a plus eight.

Guest:

Let's roll it.

Mark:

Let me just double check. Don't roll it until I tell you. I think you need probably... Anything over 10%, I think. It's something like that. I'll tell you that.

Jon:

You jinx it.

Mark:

I'm trying to jinx it. What do you think I'm trying to do? You did that last time. Okay, yeah. Anything over 10%, then you're good.

Guest:

70.

Mark:

Okay. Well done. You're taking down Sema. He's a swimmer.

Guest:

Don't die. Actually, I'll be gutted about that. That was a glorious death.

Mark:

But the skeletons that were going to be attacking you do now swarm on you because they realized that you needed help. after all and he's uh so there's plenty of skeletons here to finish the job that he started on you it doesn't look great but you know you take down their champion it doesn't have the same effect as taking down the champions did before and destroy the undead there's a greater force here, and you're aware that something else has appeared, although it's difficult for you to see through the gates and into the into the darkness beyond and the amount of fog now this purple fog it's arrived from, but you're definitely aware that something's come along, and giving strength to the to the army so the rest of you managed to drag this this box to a good vantage point and rassabak says here here good good.

Stephen:

Yeah yeah yeah.

Jon:

I'll act as artillery spot have we got line of sight.

Mark:

Yeah he's got pretty he's got a pretty good line of sight you need to get nearby and give.

Stephen:

The old fella a smack with your staff.

Jon:

After he's been blasted with whatever this thing does. Yeah, sure.

Mark:

The Rassabak tells you to back off. Be gone. Me do. And he opens up the box.

Jon:

I'm watching, see what he does.

Mark:

I don't want to look at the box. He's touching runes on the outside of the box in a particular order. And as he does so, it seems to power up the box.

Jon:

Do my best to memorize that shit. Stargate address or whatever he's doing.

Mark:

Exactly. I mean, if you can memorize it, you've got a bit of magic skill. It's possible that you could utilize the power of this. So this box begins to glow. but not just glow it also begins to shriek, and blind and a blinding jade tinted light erupts from the core of it it's a bit like the box of delights this glowing box as he opens the lid, and these light these these this light lances outward in a series of jagged lightning-like arcs, and the scaven cackle with a high-pitched glee as this energy seeks out undead nearby and it just to obliterate and you've got a good angle on the main gate. Kemla seems to absorb that. It doesn't seem to affect him at all. And he is very much alert to what you're doing. And he moves the chariot.

Jon:

Hey, it was the beast. This was going on.

Mark:

And instead of now heading through the gates of the monastery to be for victory with his undead army. He sees that the army is quite quickly being decimated, but whatever power is erupting from the terrain over in your direction, he might not be able to see you exactly. But he directs his chariot in that direction of you, and he starts to charge, and the chariot races across the meadows and toward you.

Jon:

Great. I'm up there.

Mark:

Lasseback says, no effect. No work on him. Too powerful.

Jon:

The car, the chariot, the car, horses. Then.

Mark:

No, it doesn't seem to work. The light, the energy goes across toward him, but it seems to be sucked away as it reaches a certain distance from him.

Jon:

Right now i have no idea how to you said attunement i'm gonna try to force it oh he he can activate his little chitty little cantrip things, yeah every channel he uses for that he's gonna try to do for this because he's gonna try.

Mark:

Oh you're stepping forward with the staff yeah so you yeah okay you can do all of the.

Jon:

Things that you think might work just in case they do something I'm not really too stupid. We've got an elevated position. I want to jump down on the fuck. Okay. If I'm going to go.

Stephen:

Looks impressive. In your mind, that's what it looked like.

Jon:

That's what I've got all my fortune points for.

Mark:

So I haven't spent any yet. Oh, wow. Okay. You could pull this off. So you're getting yourself to a vantage point. So when the chariot comes past, you can leap down upon it and take down a Kemla, potentially. so other people be aware of that position that Faktan's taking it it looks like it's got something completely.

Jon:

Pale we can all give it a go.

Mark:

Rassabak and the Skaven they are they are running, they're not they're not they're retreating and they're obviously not being able to take the box with them, so the energy coming from the box slowly slowly dissipates and drops down a few levels as Rassabak moves back from it but it says too powerful too powerful, you he points at you Silas, And you, Dorian. Your fight. Not ours.

Stephen:

Leave the box. Bugger off.

Barry:

Do you know what? In fairness, they have done enough. I might even manage a little begrudging. Cheers.

Mark:

Yeah. You think he's received that. And although his rat-like eyes are difficult to say what he's thinking or what he's seeing. But he wishes you luck in his own tongue, you think. He says something to you. Are you standing in the ground against Kemla because this chariot is thundering in? No.

Stephen:

Got to go hide somewhere.

Jon:

That would be the stupidest thing in the world to do. Don't do it.

Mark:

Kemla's homing in on the box.

Stephen:

Yeah. I'm assuming he's going to concentrate on the box. I'm going to jump from above like we'll get the same position as fact.

Mark:

Oh, okay. Just copying fact time basically.

Stephen:

It's better than standing in front of a charging chariot, which I'm not quite sure achieves anything.

Mark:

Well, it's charging to the point where it may slow down when it reaches the box because Kemla seems very intent on seeing what that is and trying to put an end to it, maybe closing it.

Stephen:

We're trying to ambush him at least there.

Mark:

Yeah. Silas, what are you doing?

Barry:

I am going to, I can't believe I'm saying this out loud, but I'm going to try and drag, is it possible to drag the box away to somewhere where it's not as obvious?

Mark:

No, it isn't. I mean, the Skaven have given up on the idea of that And as Kemmler's coming in on his chariot, you wouldn't be able to drag it anywhere near fast enough to avoid, uh, Kemmler get into you.

Barry:

Okay.

Mark:

Um, but at least you know where he's coming. I mean, if you wanted to protect the box, the Skaven aren't going to.

Barry:

See, the thing is, is the box still doing its thing?

Mark:

It is. It's slightly less efficient, but it's still spitting out lightning, and it is still having an effect. You can see them marching up into the sky and across, down into the courtyard or inside the monastery grounds.

Barry:

Okay, well, at least one of us is likely to get a glorious death end because I'm going to stay and defend the box.

Mark:

Okay.

Stephen:

If you drag him in, we'll ambush him.

Mark:

Sir Kemla and his chariot approach. You can see that Kemla's body is ruined, really. its skin is not merely pale it's translucent yellow quality like old parchment stretched, over a frame and his face is a sunken mask of death his cheeks have hollowed deep craters his lips have proceeded leaving his teeth exposed in the permanent jagged snarl but the most terrifying aspect of his visage are his eyes, where they would be human iris they're white and milky cataracts film them but there's deep within those eyes there's this um two pin bricks of powerful cold blue light burn with an intensity, he's draped in tattered layered robes and some of them silken or once were quite opulent but now stained and blooded and dirty, he's clutched in one hand he holds a skull staff it's a little more than, bone and gray tendon that is the staff and at the top of it at this length sorry of blackened wood there's a it's topped with a human skull and reinforced with silver and bronze. And there's an aura about him. The air around him seems to warp. And it's definitely colder as he gets nearer to you. So standing your ground against this thing is incredibly brave, but you do have to make a fear check, I'm afraid. Silas?

Barry:

Hey, what's that? A D-what?

Mark:

We've lost your video there, Barry. I don't know if that's... Hold on.

Stephen:

Oh, isn't it?

Mark:

Yeah. It's a cool check.

Guest:

Well, willpower in this game, Mark. There's no such thing as cool, is there?

Mark:

Yeah, it is. It's just a skill. Yeah.

Barry:

Yeah, and I've got that.

Stephen:

It's a skill now.

Guest:

Yeah, it's under willpower.

Barry:

I've got 10 advances in cold. So what does that mean? I get willpower plus 10.

Mark:

Yeah, you need to make it by 2 degrees. This has a BFA to a 2.

Barry:

I can't see that. What's that? 47.

Guest:

Seven. If only you had a Troll Slayer that's immune to fear.

Mark:

So that's not enough, is it? Did you make it at all?

Barry:

No.

Mark:

So what happens then is that you are feared. You can't move toward it, but it can move toward you. You can stand your ground. You don't need to run because you don't have the broken condition. Okay. So it hasn't caused you terror, but you are at minus 10 to hit it if you stand your ground against it. and you won't be able to move toward it. But as it seems to be, you're standing by the box, right? So it's coming into direct contact with you.

Barry:

So my plan is if it's essentially charging at me on a chariot, right?

Mark:

Well, it's not. The chariot draws to a stop and it's dismounting.

Barry:

Okay.

Mark:

So it steps down from his chariot, his staff giving it support. and looks around and looks at the box then would look at you, Silas. He speaks in a rasp in voice. Oh, he's got speech.

Jon:

No, not the monologue.

Stephen:

Monologue, he's got monologue.

Mark:

No, he doesn't have time for that. You have broken my toys, but you have only ensured that I should have the pleasure of raising your own corpses to replace them.

Stephen:

That's not a pleasure.

Barry:

Repeat.

Jon:

So the only way you can get it up.

Mark:

I'll pop back over to Gelato, because after you kill the skeletal hero, the skeletons will then begin to overwhelm you. You can see that's happening to the other dwarves too. But then these arcs of lightning come through and start to break apart. A lot of the army here as well, they're arcing across the wall, so you can't actually see the source of what's happening. In fact, you'd have no idea where this is coming from.

Guest:

No, I wouldn't.

Mark:

But it definitely seems to be on your side, and it's helping, uh reduce the amount of skeletons and to make it easier for you to fight back, so what i think at this stage of the scenario and the session i think i'd like to make this quite a simple role for you to either be overwhelmed or be able to to sort of break through from the skeletons and then perform another perform another action and won't get bogged down in into, into too much combat here and too many rounds so, i'm going to give the skeletons a collective strength of 50 and we're doing a post strength test with you yeah.

Guest:

Remember because i've got a slayer i automatically the same strength as you.

Mark:

Okay if you didn't have it already okay so it should be 50 50 chance that you managed to fight your way through this is it a strength or.

Stephen:

A toughness you you get.

Guest:

No so with what you do is is that the way the slayer works is that your your strength is always considered to be the same as his toughness yeah, toughest yeah yeah oh yeah you're right yeah so i've only got strength for 30 yeah.

Mark:

So the so i've for the first attempt two degrees of success okay.

Guest:

On strength yes i was highly i'm gonna pass this.

Mark:

Okay.

Guest:

You never know though.

Stephen:

Is that just to hit things though rather than.

Mark:

So what happens you take down some skeletons you're not free to move anywhere at the moment and I do a hit on you. So you do take down Skellons, but you take more damage.

Guest:

Yeah.

Mark:

Okay, so you take...

Guest:

Ooh! Oh, no, that's not like he did that.

Jon:

Can you dodge?

Mark:

No, we've already done the opposed roll for the attack, basically. So we've got...

Stephen:

That looks painful.

Mark:

It's 18 points of damage.

Guest:

18, you say? Yeah. So minus my four toughness, I'll put that down to 14. And then I'll minus my six wounds, so I'll put that down to eight. So it's a plus eight crit.

Mark:

All right, let's roll it. Fucking hell, it's about it. You needed 11 or more.

Stephen:

Yeah, but surely you're not doing sudden deaths on these, are you?

Mark:

Yeah, I should have been able to live.

Jon:

Shut up.

Mark:

I'm not healthy.

Stephen:

You're surviving no matter what.

Mark:

Yeah, well, he might do with conditions and stunts and everything else.

Guest:

No, no. No, I think you're fine. That's due to frenzy. I'm immune to all kinds, all immune to all psychology tests.

Mark:

But you are coated in these skeletons. They're ripping you apart, stabbing you all over the place. And you've survived another round, so you're not free to act. it would have been quite a good way to go though wouldn't it to drag down by the skeletons and ripped apart it could still be that way glorious, yeah it is it's going that way but for the rest of them for the rest of you then we're into a new round and well we'd say that first of all we'll let, Dorian and Faktan act at this point now then together then okay so dorian you've got the highest initiative so you can go first well.

Stephen:

I'll try and get behind him and then we jump together i'll try and well let me go first i'll distract him and then.

Mark:

You distract him by going behind him.

Stephen:

Well i hit him yeah, okay that'll distract him but you know.

Mark:

To allow the somebody else to go in in the front okay so.

Stephen:

Just your weight yeah.

Mark:

Yeah okay, Then you attack.

Stephen:

Yep. I'll try and sneak up on him. I assume I can't, but I'll just hit him. 22.

Mark:

Oh, okay.

Stephen:

Take that one. That's a distraction. Well, I'll use Naras here to really make sure he does not see Fact Hunt come in.

Mark:

So he doesn't get to oppose this because Silas' act of bravery standing his ground next to the box, Silas is the one that's going to be attacked this round, almost certainly, is enough for him to sort of not – you've come out of the shadows or down from a – in the position it's it's not aware of you enough to put the pose role against that so you get to do a critical hit so you can either, what do you think you can damage it i'm not sure you can see that it didn't take any effect i want.

Stephen:

To make sure he doesn't see fact tank come in but yeah i'll just so if that narrative.

Mark:

Okay well give that.

Stephen:

Some more bonuses to hit.

Mark:

Right okay you can do that then, so you knock it sort of in a way and...

Stephen:

Was it normal damage?

Mark:

Yeah, you can do some damage.

Stephen:

12 plus I'll make sure I mustn't see the staff coming.

Mark:

Okay, so 12 damage. doesn't appear to do much at all. You're not sure whether you've actually damaged it, in fact.

Stephen:

Hey, you! Sorry about that. Wrong person.

Mark:

And it's taller than you. It's thin and tall, isn't it? It's also got a pointed hat as well. I don't know if you remember the old picture of the Lich Pass, so I'll put these up on our Discord.

Jon:

You collect? That's your collection. Should have stolen the hat.

Stephen:

As I look him up.

Mark:

He's a very iconic warhammer. baddie kind of came up and uh let's just.

Stephen:

Buy that hat but fun i'll just ask.

Mark:

So is your hat better than his maybe he wants your hat are.

Barry:

You having a hat off.

Mark:

That's like where.

Stephen:

Did you get that that's uh where did you get that.

Jon:

Top if the.

Stephen:

Three of us.

Jon:

Make him it's a hat trick.

Mark:

Silas what are you doing you get to wrap you can see that uh factons coming in from the side with his with his staff you get to yeah you're coming down that's true.

Barry:

Yeah i'm gonna i'm going to do whatever i can to also help fact hunt go unnoticed by keeping his the lich masters focus solely on me, i'm i'm either going to give him the finger or whatever it takes.

Mark:

Even one.

Stephen:

Of your fingers.

Jon:

Isn't that how it just started?

Mark:

It's a taunt. Well, you've just seen Dorian give this creature quite a hefty hit, and you're not quite sure whether it did anything, so the fingers might just be as effective as anything else. It's a taunt, really, is it?

Barry:

Yeah, really a taunt, just to make sure that he remains entirely focused on me.

Mark:

Okay, that does happen. Although Dorian's hit it, he doesn't seem too bothered. He went in on you in the first place, and he's... that act of defiance is enough to annoy him and enough to attack you. But before he does so, because he's not particularly fast, even compared to Fact Hunt, and Fact Hunt, you can get that attack. So this is a rear attack, so I'll give you plus 40 to hit, and it's unopposed.

Guest:

He's so good.

Jon:

Hang on.

Stephen:

I don't miss it, Fact Hunt.

Guest:

Well, you've hit. You've missed without a plus 40.

Jon:

So I jump down. I want to say... musket says hi.

Mark:

Okay and down on top of its cranium there's this this staff comes down with a crack um down on the top of the the.

Jon:

If i can activate some sort of energy with whatever i know it's only petty things that you can do if he can put that in if it makes it shine that'll be something.

Mark:

There isn't anything showy here nothing spectacular happens but what what is happening is it it's drained something from, this creature it is alive it's not undead and whatever this staff is able to do it it's it's the living part of kemler that it's attacking and he releases a piercing horrifying shriek, escapes from kimler's kemler's throat, doesn't sound like a dying man more of a soul being torn asunder, and before your eyes, his body starts to wither wither further i mean it literally whatever was left on his skin and bones it just it just sucks with inside the the skeletal frame and, his body starts to crumble away.

Jon:

Hang on, what, what, completely?

Mark:

Yes, completely. Whatever this weapon did 40 years ago to him was incomplete. However he managed to survive the magic in the staff, whatever was keeping him going was not strong enough. Well, it was not strong enough to keep him going after a second hit from it, and he wasn't expecting to be hit by that weapon. A streak of black, immaterial shadow shoots high into the air from his remaining, bones on the ground and disappears over toward the north and vanishes.

Jon:

Literally wouldn't have done that without you guys that's fucking awesome the distractions carried that.

Mark:

And that is the power that that needs to be removed for the skeletons or the remainder of the skeletons to to fall apart so oh, so that's that's good for gelato because at that point gelato the because you wouldn't have survived another round potentially that they all start to break apart and crumble now i'm pissed.

Barry:

Off then yeah i was just about to say you've misread that mark when you said that was good news for gelato.

Mark:

Oh shit yeah.

Jon:

This is a perfect his role to come out of frenzy and decimates everyone that's.

Barry:

People will tell tales of his glorious survival.

Mark:

Go on mark tell us this is the downside of frenzy right yeah you're attacking.

Guest:

So what do you want me to do it we're doing it.

Mark:

Well we can choose who you kill.

Guest:

No no no no all it says all it says all it says it says that i keep going until the um until all enemies been gone and then it immediately is over and i receive a fatigue condition and.

Stephen:

I think it's harshness.

Mark:

Oh you Don't attack friends.

Stephen:

Nerv'd it a bit.

Guest:

Don't you nerf that?

Jon:

That's better.

Mark:

I was going to match her off against Gimbrin.

Guest:

No.

Jon:

I'm going to make it sexy. Jeez.

Guest:

No, if I'm going to kill anyone, I'm going to kill fat-tunt for taking away my glorious death.

Stephen:

You don't know this.

Jon:

Mate. I'm out of sight. It's a week between you and me.

Stephen:

We've got a big box between us.

Mark:

So what we're saying is that that fatigue puts you out. That's how you're covered in skeletal bones, lying on the battlefield, half-dead, and sort of discovered later, having survived to your great disappointment. So that is the end of it. We'll play out the final parts of this where you're dealing with the aftermath. But well done. You have completed the Lishmaster campaign. Proper old school Warhammer. and uh incredibly well done all survived no fake points lost today.

Guest:

No because we've got no fake points to take a minor point.

Mark:

Uh so the aftermath of it uh obviously the monks will be very very pleased a lot of a lot of the surviving frugal on villages are no longer alive, and the dwarves um fought bravely gimbrim would still be alive bardak wasn't fighting what i think the first things first, Rassabak would return, with his scaden to the box. This would be just after Kemmler is taken down. They'd be very fearful of the staff, but he edges quick. He says, box now ours. Yes.

Jon:

So what's my chance of remembering those routes?

Mark:

Pretty good.

Jon:

Yeah, I don't know.

Mark:

I think once you've the thing is your character doesn't end up being a chaos champion does it the pictures definitely not okay this box is no good for you fight.

Jon:

Fire with fire.

Stephen:

Go on take it go.

Mark:

On frying.

Jon:

The wrap and then keeping that locked away back where it was maybe.

Mark:

Well they went they go to grab the box and they're very surprised to find that it is no longer heavy and they are able to close the lid and seem quite pleased with themselves about that. And if that is a deal done, they look amongst you all. Silas, how do you react to them?

Barry:

I'm going to just give them a little nod.

Mark:

But thank you. Good deal. Good deal. Hang on. No deal.

Jon:

They didn't do the boss. That was the deal.

Barry:

They did enough.

Stephen:

Oh, you killable, Hatton, and then let's not let her. They did enough.

Barry:

Don't be a prick. My word.

Stephen:

He thinks he's tough now. He's got that stuff.

Jon:

My shorts is bigger than theirs.

Stephen:

Like Gandalf now.

Barry:

Hand on heart. Who'd have thought? I know we knew about the staff and stuff like that, but at the beginning, who'd have thought the killing blow would have been dealt by fucking factor? The irony of that is still the kill.

Mark:

The final blow is done by a bloke who hasn't bloody turned up all week.

Guest:

Has he? Do you know what I mean?

Stephen:

Comes in, kills our kill.

Jon:

That's all I'll say.

Guest:

We've got a barb that's harder than the troll slayer and the prudulous wine, and we've got a bookworm that turns in and wins the day.

Mark:

Well, it worked. You did it. There's no complaints. I mean, but yeah, in fact, he comes along at the end and steals the major kill. But it's glory to you all. So you let Rassabak leave. And as I say, since the energy's been discharged from the box, it's now the right weight for its size. And they managed to joyfully carry it away.

Jon:

So it's just an empty battery now.

Mark:

Yes. The survivors would welcome you back. I think they would be, pretty much aware that you brought some form of energy or power into the scene, and so they would ask you about that but not potentially the striking of the Lich Master and the defeat by the staffer of the Withering Staff they wouldn't know about that so that's the story you could tell. So we'll end up the adventure with you speaking to Jean-Louis in France so I can exercise my bad French accent again.

Barry:

In the words of a fine old friend, Dorian Duran, compensation.

Stephen:

Yes. Now let's talk about reenumeration. Thank you very much.

Barry:

Thank you very much.

Jon:

There's a song there, isn't there? Money. That's what we want.

Mark:

He agrees he says we shall make it so we have some resources we we owe you a great debt for your, for the work you have done here so they they do agree on giving you more money so that would definitely allow you guys to relocate or go sorry i just i'd want.

Barry:

To clarify they agree on giving us significantly more money.

Stephen:

All of the money all.

Barry:

Of it.

Mark:

After all i mean then they are quite frugal kind of simple people there is there is some resources here, uh maybe they pay you what they were meant to be paying everyone else when they came back from their own searches looking for the tombs so there'll be a fair bit of money on at the moment which they can give you, so i suppose we'll end it with best way to end it is ask each of you individually how your character what your character would do at the end if there's anything you want to wrap it up with on a personal level so i'll go down the order i've got you on my screen so dorian, what would be the final oh but the hat we need to we need to play out the lich master.

Stephen:

Out of the hat.

Mark:

No no so so yes the main the main story campaign story arc the hat so i'm on who's battled like a a true warrior. He's done well.

Stephen:

Oh, I'm on. You're not dead. How wonderful.

Mark:

He comes over to you. He's got his sword drawn. And, uh, you can make, you can make a fellowship role. I think it might be best, but play off the back of that. And then you can tell me, What happened?

Stephen:

No, yes, I used one of my fortune points to make that a success. I said, whoa, whoa, whoa, I couldn't have done it without the hat. The hat, without the hat. No, this was possible. I must thank you, my friend, for donating such a fine piece of headwear to me.

Mark:

He draws this blooded, well, this sword he's got, this nicked and well used within the previous battle. he says fair enough give you five minutes start.

Stephen:

Five minutes five minutes you've already spent your fortune for what the hell is that is that lichmaster again I point over his shoulder then run.

Mark:

He starts to count but you hear him laughing.

Jon:

He can't count.

Mark:

That like can, he yeah running not laughing in a main like a maniac laughing like he's just having a laugh with you.

Stephen:

Well i can't trust that.

Mark:

So you run back to uber's right with that on your head holding on to it.

Stephen:

Yeah i'll go hide in the maze on tile we uh uber's right i can't return there unfortunately.

Mark:

Okay he turns out he's he's actually quite a decent bloke does he, he's got a crossbow if he wanted to kill you he would have done so range remember that's true he could well.

Stephen:

Have done with a crossbow.

Mark:

Yeah okay um we'll move on to fact hunt.

Jon:

Glory he'll return the staff to its resting place okay Muscadet.

Mark:

Yeah the former master oh you'll return it down to the crypt you won't return it to Jean Louis I see okay.

Jon:

That's pretty much it I just, Thank the librarian for everything, because without him, we wouldn't have known any of this.

Mark:

He makes a comment about, but he's very cynical about the youth of today, but you've obviously proved him wrong. He said, well, some of you know what you're doing then, there's hope for the future.

Barry:

Wow.

Mark:

Biggest compliment he can pay anybody.

Jon:

I think.

Mark:

Okay. And you're obviously welcome to spend longer in the library if you wish. so it's not it's mostly local history so it doesn't.

Jon:

Necessarily it's fine okay so to the others i will suggest those bandit tombs are now empty.

Stephen:

Oh i think i've had enough of bloody undead in tombs but yeah.

Jon:

Oh there won't be any left will there undead wise i'm just saying that stuff might be lying there waiting to be claimed and we could be the first ones there.

Stephen:

I don't know about this thievery life. I might try something else.

Barry:

You have a lovely voice.

Stephen:

Yeah, exactly. Ever since I sang that part.

Jon:

I think looting a bandit's tomb is poetic, I think, if you want to continue that analogy.

Stephen:

The gigging scene is more of my kind of thing. I don't know. I'll have to think about it.

Mark:

You're young. You need some life experiences to be able to write from, you know, you can't just...

Stephen:

That's very true.

Mark:

You were a virgin?

Stephen:

I like a virgin.

Mark:

There you go it's your first song that's all it because The Widow La Rue would definitely be available too oh he's definitely.

Stephen:

He's definitely a virgin well he's probably a virgin maybe.

Mark:

He's lived.

Stephen:

On the streets long enough but.

Mark:

Well The Widow will go for you.

Stephen:

Yeah, fair play.

Mark:

It'll be something to write about.

Stephen:

Bit of brandy, bit of apple brandy and we'll go away.

Mark:

Gillette.

Guest:

Right, okay. When I wake up, I'll be pissed.

Mark:

Oh yeah, you get dragged up from beneath this pile of bones. Yeah.

Guest:

And without saying a word to anyone, unless we're going to be staying together, he's going to walk off to find a glorious death in the mountains.

Mark:

So just walk it out.

Guest:

Yeah, pretty much.

Mark:

It's always no better than to stop you, but maybe some of these guys might get an opportunity to speak to you before you go. Can you be bothered?

Stephen:

Yeah where are you going.

Guest:

To find my glorious death.

Stephen:

Well you didn't get it today but if you stick with us you'll probably end up getting it.

Guest:

Where are you going.

Stephen:

Back to the tombs.

Guest:

I'm in let's go okay.

Stephen:

We're gonna rob him.

Mark:

Hey well silas should be here in this as well uh but what would silas want to do at the end of this first of all and then you can interact with the party on that level if you want.

Barry:

So i kind of don't know that like originally i sort of thought he'd just want to get back to the pit i mean have i made enough money to go.

Mark:

Back there you were escaping boobers right for other reasons weren't you you got caught up in a betting ring and you were i think yeah i organized the reasons scandal yeah.

Barry:

No but the question i'm asking is if i have i made enough money to sell that for.

Mark:

Myself yeah that's true you have so you could go back that's the question.

Barry:

And if not then i carry on adventuring until i have.

Jon:

Well bet on yourself yeah.

Mark:

Shall we say you haven't then? Not quite enough. Because I like the idea that you guys are continuing on adventuring, and it seems that you can hear the rest of them talking about finding these tombs.

Barry:

You're going to have to work out what the vig is, because every day I'm away, what I'm owing is going up.

Stephen:

I just don't think they'll ever suck a bit off of money. I think these people will kill you anyway.

Jon:

We'll have to smuggle a cartload with spice to make up for it.

Stephen:

Tom's just a fortune, we are.

Mark:

So what about the monks, Silas? Is there anything you'd want to get off your chest with them or you've had it out with them already?

Barry:

You know, I made my position perfectly clear on the way that, um, Jean Louis hired us and duped us, but he's been a standup guy, broadly speaking since that moment. So no, I'm, I'm cold.

Mark:

Yeah.

Barry:

A glass of wine would be lovely.

Mark:

Yeah. You get some of their wine. It's pretty good. So you can, you can leave, leave with a bit of that. The, the job as far as going to explore the blue blooded bandits, it's um tombs those that is no longer being financed by la maison charlie's lost interest in his book funnily enough, uh but you can set off from here and use this as a base and you're more than welcome to do so, and so that would be where you all head off next you stay together as a group of adventurers and you, head off to your further glories and eventually 40 years later and your character's lives turn up well with mark you didn't your character gelato isn't the one that you've used for your alter ego on the rpg blokes artwork but for the rest of you guys you know exactly how you're gonna turn out turn out like, maybe we'll return to them mid-journey through their lives some some start at some point.

Guest:

You're gonna give us a fake point and some experience this time.

Mark:

Mark well we always said warhammer was the was the system we'd use for the initial adventure and then, maybe bring the characters back in another system, with another system in the future, like D&D or something. Well done, guys. Brilliant. That's been a long journey.

Barry:

Thank you so much, gentlemen.

Mark:

Yeah, ever since Session Zero, it was almost a year ago, I think, playing it, wasn't it?

Stephen:

Was it?

Mark:

It's getting there, I think. Yeah, when we actually recorded.

Guest:

So, the Slayer survives a plus eight critical, but died to a plus one critical. Work that out.

Mark:

Yeah.

Stephen:

Funny old game. Yeah. Funny old game is dice.

Mark:

Nice one, guys. So that's the end of our Lich March to Live play. Thanks.

Barry:

See you again, James.

Mark:

Yeah.

Jon:

See you guys.
